I wear my fashion on my head.

Hats and headpieces seem to be all the rage these days. From the Royal Wedding to the streets of Los Angeles, everyone seems to be making a bold fashion statement with headpieces. Hats to headbands -- and everything in between-- with a little glue, feathers, beads and imagination you too can become a walking work of art.

Make your own hairpiece:

Hairpieces are all the rage right now. In fact, most fashion stores carry headbands and hairpieces that can range from $10 to $50!!! Why spend that kind of money when you can easily make you very own for less than $5? Part of the fun of making your own is the freedom to get as creative as you want to customize your very own hairpiece.

You will need:
  • Scissors
  • Hot glue gun
  • Feathers
  • Aligator clip
  • Felt
  • Any beads, vintage jewelery, or flowers (optional)
Step One:
Decide how big you want your feather clip to be and how you want them arranged. You can fan them out using the shortest on the outside and the longer in the center, or fan them out in a complete circle, it's completely up to you!

Step Two:
Cut a piece of felt in a circle or an oval to serve as the base for your fabulous feather creation and a smaller rectangular piece to hold the alligator clip in place once the hairpiece is created.

Step Three:
Now it's time for your creativity to kick in!! Arrange feathers however you want and hot glue gun them to the piece of felt (feather pad). I like to use basic colors for the first layer and put a few colored feathers on the top layer to add pop. You can fan them out to make large circle, or use just a few feathers to make a smaller piece. I also like to add jewels and/or flowers at the point of my fanned feathers to add that extra special touch. You can even use an old vintage clip on earring or pin (after removing the clip on/pin part) for an Old Hollywood look!

Step Four:
Once it feels dry, flip your feather pad over and grab your alligator clip and little rectangular piece of felt. Pinch open the clip and slide the felt in between the prongs. Glue one side of the felt in between the prongs and press the clip and felt down to the back side of your feather pad.

Let dry for a few minutes and then, voila!! Your very own feather headpiece!!
